I went to art school thinking I knew what I wanted to do. Drawing, painting, sculpting. Turns out, that was just the ground floor. I left school with a proficiency in those forms, but with more of an affinity for the technical crafts like photography, lithography, and digital art. Those practices that require a mastery of technology — along with color, composition, and materials —prior to creating something with meaning.
My practice always blends the use of technology as a tool with the execution still resting in hand-built craft.
I’m most drawn to the places where analog life and digital technology converge. Finding that crossover place where we exist both as physical and virtual beings.
If working in advertising for the last 20+ years has taught me one thing, it’s that everything is digital and digital is everything.
We can’t escape the pull of technological evolution, whether it’s in our personal lives, our economy, our spiritual or philosophical conversations, our relationships, and the transformation of our own physical selves.
